Avocado should be given to dogs with caution.

Can Dogs Eat Avocado?

Avocado flesh is mildly toxic; the pit and skin are dangerous.

Details

The flesh of avocado contains persin, which can cause mild stomach upset in dogs. The bigger danger is the large pit, which is a choking and intestinal blockage hazard. The skin and leaves contain higher concentrations of persin. Small amounts of ripe avocado flesh are unlikely to cause serious harm, but it is best avoided.
