Can Dogs Eat Cheese?

Most dogs can have small amounts of cheese, but watch for lactose intolerance.

Details

Many dogs are lactose intolerant to varying degrees. Low-lactose cheeses like cheddar, mozzarella, and Swiss are generally better tolerated. Cottage cheese is also a good option. Avoid blue cheeses (contain roquefortine C, which is toxic), and high-fat cheeses. Use small amounts as training treats. Monitor for digestive upset after first introduction.
